The final stepping stone in the Soil & Souls development is gaining a permanent piece of land to serve as corporate headquarters. What’s the purpose of our land? To embed Indigenous land wisdom within our growing practices and resilience education. In honor of Dele’s Mi’Kmaq lineage, we will highlight how the regenerative practices of our ancestors can move forward in the 21st century from a Micmac point of view. From seed to market these practices are integral to the mission of Soil & Souls as we pass them along to further generations.
The land will serve as home base for the nursery, leadership trainings and residences for some worker owners. Conversations for a land trust have begun. We are blessed to have the involvement of tribal leaders from the Metis Mi’Kmaq who have specialized in environmental restoration in 13 French speaking countries for the last 30 years. The Soil & Souls development will be the first in an English speaking country.
Although we have and continue to grow resilience hubs across the country, we’re in need of a minimum 25-acre parcel of land in the Hudson Valley in New York to call home.. Hudson Valley will serve as the corporate headquarters where others can come to experience our process in its entirety. What is even better, the Hudson Valley Growers Network estimates $20 Million in Herbal Market potential in New York. The state of New York is encouraging the establishment of native plant nurseries to support the statewide ecological restoration work. This will be a tremendous support to our native and medicinal plant nursery as we join invaluable markets that prizes organic and sustainable healing.

We need Joy as we need air. We need Love as we need water. We need each other as we need the earth we share.”
